I live for volume. As someone with thin, fine and dull hair I am always on the hunt for the best volume products; things I can do to give my hair that extra oomph it so badly needs and I so desire. I can get my hair big in a matter of seconds at this point because I’ve had so much practice teasing it and finding products that give it an instant boost of volume. As a Jersey girl, I’m sure you expected nothing less. We love big hair. I get question all the time on what products I use to grab some volume and add to a tease so I wanted to share with y’all what I think the best volume products are and what I used them for!
Lush Big Shampoo – $26.95 – This is a new to me shampoo that I have just recently fallen in love with, Laura over at My Newest Addiction, mentioned it to me and I grabbed it and it does an awesome job of adding volume! I love how it smells and that it stays with my hair after drying. Over half of the base of the shampoo is sea salt. Sea salt is also full of minerals and de-greases hair, removing dead skin cells and dirt without stripping natural oils for a fresh, squeaky clean feeling.
blowPro® ‘textstyleTM’ dry texture spray (2 oz.) • $9.50 – This little gem is fan-freaking-tastic. Whenever I need to add some texture to my hair to be able to style it right after a wash a blow dry (which is always because thin & lifeless, I tell ya) I reach for this. People use it as a finishing spray as well but I spray it directly on my roots and halfway down, run my fingers through it and proceed to style.
Not Your Mother’s Travel Size She’s a Tease Volumizing Hairspray • Ulta • $2.99 – I use this amazing hairspray almost daily. I have an angled bob that is stacked in the back so after I tease it and get the style I want I need something that will keep it big, and will hold all day but without giving my hair that sticky feeling and this one of the best volume products I have found!
GG Gatsby Over The Top Root Lift Spray • Over The Top • $17.99 – This is usually a product I use on day two, three and four hair in pretty much the same way as the dry texture spray. Put it on the roots and tease it to Jesus.
Spornette Big Wonder Tease Brush Red • Spornette • $4.99 – If we’re talking best volume products this is the most important of all my ‘tools’ a teasing brush is your best friend when it comes to volume. I know SO many people will tell you how bad teasing is for your hair but we’ve come along way since the 80’s rat tail teasing comb. I find that when using a brush to tease there is way less breakage, if any. I would not be able to live without this!
Ion Anti-Frizz Thermal Round Brush • Ion • $6.99 – Blowdrying at home and looking for those voluminous locks a la a professional blowout? You need a big round brush to use as you dry! This is one of my favorites.
Sexy Hair Concepts Powder Play Volumizing & Texturizing Powder • $16.00 – I went for a cut a few weeks back and the stylist suckered me into buying this. I had tried hair powders before and some I loved, some I didn’t but none would actually last all day. This one does and I am in amazement at the INSTANT volume boost you get from sprinkling this on your roots and rubbing it in.
Mark Hill Big is Better Volume Conditioner • Mark Hill • $7.49 – I’ve been on a break from conditioner (another stylist tip for volume) and using a leave-in and a mask once every 6 days or so. However, I know that some people don’t want to give up the conditioner so I wanted to share one of my favorites. While it’s not super volume it definitely doesn’t way your hair down so it gives you an option to go big!
There you have it, all of the best volume products that I love! Here’s to pumping up the volume & keeping our heels, hair & standards high
